It is with deep sadness that we regret to announce the
peaceful passing of Olive Jackson, age 88, of East
Leicester. Olive passed away at her home on Thursday,
January 26, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.
Olive was born in Mansfield, NS, a daughter of the late Walter
and Ivy (Stewart) Carter.
Olive was a member of
the Little River Baptist Church where she was active with the ladies
Auxiliary. She was a long time supporter of the East
Leicester Community Hall and belonged to the Oxford Seniors Citizens
Club. She loved to knit, sew and quilt; many of her family
have benefited with wonderful home made items as gifts from Olive. She
was an avid card player, scrabble player and loved crossword
puzzles.
She will be dearly missed by her
children Faye Kavalak, Springhill, Heather (Raymond) Milner, Salem,
Joyce Carscadden, Amherst, Walter "Bubs" (Linda), East
Leicester, Sylvia (Rodger) Oulton, North Port, Joan Porteous, Calgary,
Donna (Joe Snowdon) Jackson, Sackville, NB, Lorna (Rick) Funk,
Calgary, Eleanor (Kerry) Rivard , Edmonton; 32 grandchildren, 50 great
grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sister Jean Mattinson,
Beckwith; brothers Elmore "Bill" Carter, Oxford,
Delbert (Lillian) Carter, East Leicester; many nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband
Avery, daughters Shirley and Ruth; 2 infant children; grandson Travis
Porteous; brothers Stewart and Basil Carter.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the W Allen Funeral Home, 60
Water St., Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) where visiting hours will take
place on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral
service will be held at the Little River Baptist Church on Monday,
January 30, 2012 at 2 pm, Pastor Chris Greer officiating.
Burial will take place in the Mansfield Cemetery.

the Mansifeld Cemetery, the Little River Baptist Church the East
Leicester Community Hall or the charity of your choice.
